Time & Space Cowboys
.

.
Time & Space Cowboys was a project I did in 2014. It came from an interest in how to combine performance, theater, music, narrative and computer games.
Time & Space Cowboys is a piece about the rebel cowboys and their quest to squelch the artists “The Virtualists” revolution and final work “END PIECE”, their wish to destroy Earth by making it collide with Saturn.
I was inspired by various artist manifestos made in the 1900’s and I was trying to imagine how they look if put in a more modern Pop SCI-FI context.
The performance was seperated into three pieces intertwining, a concert, a playthrough of a virtual world and a booklet containing the narrative.
It was also an experiment in how to recontextualize widely different areas of culture into a coherent space, using art as the container.
In the performance, I would switch between playing guitar in the concert sections, to entering the performative sculpture Time & Space Machine, where I would control a videogame world I had made for the occasion, inspired by the phenomenon of “speedrunning”, I would have to play through the game correctly, in order for the full performance to finish.
Below is the booklet that was available to read at the performance and take home to keep.
